Local places you can volunteer during the holidays
During the holidays, is a great time to give up a little bit of your time to help someone in need. We’ve all seen the bell ringers with Santa hats standing outside stores collecting donations or food drives at schools that give food to people in need. But, there’s lots of other ways to give this Holiday Season, right here in Omaha!

At the Women’s Center for Advancement they are focused on helping women who are the survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault to keep their children safe and grow strong. Food Bank for the Heartland also accepts food and financial donations that help them provide the meals and services for our community.
The Open Door Mission is an organization that gives homeless men, women and children a warm place to eat and helps them get back on their own feet. A great way to get involved at the Open Door Mission, would be to help wrap gifts, unload diapers, be a turkey ‘N’ fixin’s attendant, a toy and joy personal shopper and more.
The Salvation Army’s goal is to do the most good for the most people. This includes offering multiple ways to volunteer. Ways to make an impact this Holiday season are to help people sign-up for the toy drive, adopt a family, make a donation to the organization or help parents pick out toys for their children for Christmas.
If that’s not festive enough for you, there is always an opportunity to wear a Santa hat and register to ring the bells for the Salvation Army.
