A recent article on RealtorMag.com revealed new trends on home shoppers’ wish lists and there were some surprises…
According to Realtor.com’s Home Buyer Survey, more than half of new homebuyers are on the hunt for a three-bedroom home and over seventy-five percent want at least two bathrooms in their new home.
What are the most searched-for attributes?
Realtor.com noted that the attributes most searched for on their site across all age groups were:
- Large backyards
- Updated kitchens
The least searched-for attributes included:
- A guesthouse
- A mother-in-law suite
- Solar panels
- A “man cave”
What is the most desired home style?
For 2017, the most popular style of home is a ranch. Forty-two percent of home shoppers say they’re looking for a ranch home. The second most-common home style was a contemporary home. Following ranches and contemporary houses, Craftsman and Colonial styles.
What is the favorite room in the home?
No surprise to us… It’s the kitchen! According to the study, 80% of homebuyers ranked the kitchen as one of their three favorite rooms in their homes, followed by the master bedroom and living room.
What is the top goal when searching for a home?
Privacy and having a space that was solely their own. It even out-ranked stability, family needs, and financial investment.
What motivates millennial homebuyers the most?
Family needs are the top motivation noted by millennial homebuyers. Whether it’s a growing family, getting married, or moving in with a partner, their family’s changing needs are the main reason for househunting.
Another interesting trend?
Buyers are looking for sustainable homes. Whether it’s looking for energy-efficient homes, tiny homes, or other options, more homebuyers are looking for sustainability in their new homes.
